DESCRIPTION

Former Minister Fani Palli-Petralia and her sister Titi donated the Petraliades home to the local municipality to become a center of culture and the environment. The project is typically the museum of the Petralia family and is located in Divris. In essence, however, it is a museum built to highlight the area and, through it, a special chapter of Greek history. Because what is housed in the imposing, preserved stone house that former minister Fani Palli-Petralia and her sister Titi Psilakis donated to the local municipality in 2003 is something far wider, complex and original.
The Center of Culture and Environment Divris “Archontiko Petralia“, as its full name, is an example of how to save collective history through private. And as a result, the Petralia Mansion suggests a tendency for the cultural heritage to be unusual in Greece. Moreover, the narrative of the Petraliades route through the centuries through a multitude of heirlooms, exhibits, rare original manuscripts, etc. which were studied and offered by the family itself, highlights in general cultural, historical and environmental elements that make the region of Peloponnese unique.
Family members have played a prominent role in the political and social life of Greece for nearly two hundred years, since the ancestors of Fanis were giving mercenaries to the chieftains of the struggle for national independence until 2009, when she was a deputy and minister of government.
